Arizona Mugshots and Arrest Records

Arizona mugshots are booking photos taken by the sheriffs of the 15 Arizona counties, and booking records are open to inspection under the Arizona public records law. Arizona also limits what the operator of a mugshot website may do with those records, so reports for Arizona carry no booking photos. This page lists the official Arizona sources and explains the law.

How arrest and booking records are kept in Arizona

Booking records in Arizona are created by the county sheriff that runs the jail, and they are open under the Arizona public records law in A.R.S. 39-121. Court cases are recorded by the court that hears them, and most Arizona courts report to a statewide case search run by the Arizona Judicial Branch. People sentenced to prison are recorded by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry.

An arrest is not a conviction. Charges may have been dropped, dismissed or resulted in acquittal.
