Terms of Service

Last updated October 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of MugshotLookup, the public records search service at mugshotlookup.com. By running a search or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Questions go to support@mugshotlookup.com.

1. The service

MugshotLookup searches arrest, booking, court and other public records for a person by name and state, shows the source and date of each record, offers reverse phone, email and address lookups, and sends monitoring alerts. The features available to you depend on your plan, as described on the pricing page. MugshotLookup is a private service and is not affiliated with any government agency.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to create an account. You provide a valid email address, keep your password secure and are responsible for activity under your account. One person per seat. Do not share a login.

3. No use for purposes covered by the FCRA

MugshotLookup is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and its reports are not consumer reports. You agree that you will not use the service or any information from it, in whole or in part, as a factor in deciding any of the following.

  • Employment, including hiring, promotion, reassignment or retention, and including household workers and volunteers.
  • Tenant screening, including whether to rent to a person.
  • Consumer credit or lending.
  • Insurance underwriting.
  • Eligibility for a license, a government benefit, a scholarship or an educational program.
  • Any other purpose that requires a consumer report under the FCRA.

You confirm this before every search. The full notice is on the FCRA notice page.

4. Permitted and prohibited use

You may use the service for lawful personal purposes and, on the Professional plan, for research purposes outside the FCRA. You may not use the service to do any of the following.

  • Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate or locate a person to harm them.
  • Contact a person named in a record to demand money, or publish a record to shame a person.
  • Search for minors, or for people protected by a court order that you are subject to.
  • Collect records in bulk, resell or republish records, or build a database from the service.
  • Use automated tools to run searches or copy results.
  • Present yourself as a government agency or as acting for one.
  • Break any federal, state or local law, including state laws on the use of arrest records and booking photos.

We limit repeated searches for the same person and bulk searching, and we may suspend or close an account that breaks this section, with no refund for the period in which the breach occurred.

5. About the records

Records come from public sources and licensed providers. They can be incomplete, out of date or attached to the wrong person, and two people can share a name. An arrest is not a conviction. Charges may have been dropped, dismissed or resulted in acquittal. Check the listed source before you rely on any record. We do not guarantee that a search finds every record that exists, or that every record shown is current.

Booking photos appear only where state law allows commercial display and the source provides them.

6. Memberships, price and automatic renewal

  • Plans and prices: Unlimited $34.95 per month or $209.40 per year, Plus $54.95 per month or $329.40 per year, Professional $99.95 per month or $599.40 per year. Add-ons are priced per month as listed on the pricing page.
  • Before you pay, you see the price, the billing period and the renewal terms, and you agree to them with a box that is never checked for you.
  • Monthly plans are charged on the day you join and on the same day each month. Annual plans are charged once on the day you join and once a year after that.
  • Every plan and add-on renews automatically at the price then in effect until you cancel.
  • We email a receipt after every charge. For annual plans we email a reminder before the renewal date.
  • If we change a price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Sales tax is added where the law requires it.
  • There is no trial that converts into a paid plan.

7. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time, online, in one click, from your account. We confirm the cancellation by email. After you cancel, access continues until the end of the period you paid for and you are not charged again. Payments for a period that has started are not refunded, unless the law requires it. If we charge you in error or after you cancelled, write to support@mugshotlookup.com and we refund that charge.

8. Free report

Every account includes one free report on one person. It is not charged and does not start a membership. Single reports are not sold as a separate payment. Sections 3, 4 and 5 apply to it in full.

9. Fair use limits

Searches are unlimited. Full reports are subject to a fair use limit per month: 100 on Unlimited, 250 on Plus and 1,000 across seats on Professional. Monitoring is limited to 5, 25 and 100 people. The limits protect the people in the records from bulk harvesting.

10. Opt-out, removal and correction

Anyone can ask us to suppress their name, remove a specific record or correct a record, for free, on the opt-out page. We never charge for these requests and we do not accept payment to remove a record.

11. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and how to use your rights under state privacy laws.

12. Our content

The site, its design, its text and its Source Directory belong to MugshotLookup. Public records themselves belong to the public. You may link to our pages. You may not copy the site or the directory in bulk.

13. Disclaimers

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for how you use the information and for checking it against the original source.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, MugshotLookup is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law of the place where you live.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top and, for significant changes, email account holders before the change takes effect. If you keep using the service after that date, the new terms apply.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law that applies at the place where the operator of mugshotlookup.com is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the state where you live.
